Not likely. Fedora promotes and pushes free alternatives, which I feel would be a good way to do things if the free alternatives had even 1/2 the capabilities of the proprietary options.

It's a chicken-and-egg problem, Cliff. The proprietary guys won't release enough info to make a decent OSS alternative, and won't release their own stuff as OSS without an economic incentive. Right now, for nVidia, that incentive doesn't exist or at least is insufficient.

Is Gparted installed in Mint by default? If so just use that, otherwise I will walk you through command line.

Ok as long as we are all being honest here... my reply was a stab in the dark! LOL

I booted to a Win 95 dos floppy and formatted the drive, seems to be working great.. I'd better copy this there.

I understand the why of it. It is a very odd situation, they keep trying to develop an OSS nvidia driver because most of us that are in need of a decent graphics solution have purchased nvidia, yet we purchased nvidia hardware based on their linux support. I just feel the linux community spends too much time trying to justify their actions. I don't have a problem using proprietary software when it is better than the free alternative.

I see some great projects going in linux, but they don't have the resources to allow a decent development rate, so some great things just die because situations for the developer change. Then there are those projects that people just won't let go of. Seriously, is there any need for a minimalistic tiling window manager to get to version 3.4 and how many tiling window managers do we need?

I feel linux has gotten stuck where it is mainly due to most everything being individual efforts. If they actually were able to pool all of the talent spread across the world some things would actually get finished.

You really need to start paying attention to Linux Chris, life is passing you by!! ":O}
No I use a win 95 floppy to format a thumb drive, being new and dumb in Linux some things are still easirer for me to do in the OLD way... but I'm moving on and there you are stuck in the past! ":O}

You see Chris Mint, indeed all Linux destros can use drives formatted in Fat 16 Fat 32 MS DOS and God alone knows how many others....

Where as Windoze....well...not so much...

If you don't mind, try again while in Fedora....it's possible there is an issue lurking somewhere, but I've got a suspicion.....
