I never heard of "Play on Linux" but I have tried Wine. I installed Battlefield 1942 and it ran, but with a lot of video artifacts. I never figured out how to uninstall it from wine.

Awesome! I'm glad that Memory worked for you.

Weel now I've really gone and done it. I made a total 360 and installed Ubuntu! I never cared for it, but I always try it again from time to time and I finally found one I like.

OMG why are you giving yourself such a hard time? Or you like to install OS's like every other week? I have my Vista installation there for such a long time and its still working awesome. I do play with some linucs distros from time to time and I do find ubuntu quite nice. It's time to give yourself a break and get back to the awesome Vista !!!

Ubuntu 10.4 beta 2 It's my understanding that if you keep the updates up to date, that it's like a rolling release, and will be the same as the final release when it's ready.
I have to admit, I've never been an Ubuntu fan, but I like this distro.
You can get the beta here->DistroWatch.com: Put the fun back into computing. Use Linux, BSD.
and I think the RC gets released Thursday the 22nd. Final release is April 29th.

I think I have settled on a couple main operating systems. Mint 8 on one tower, with PCLOS 2010 on hd#2, and Ubuntu Lucid Lynx on the other, with XP on hd#2.
I plan to upgrade to Mint 9 when it comes out.

*subject to change!

I like them both. Mint comes with more stuff pre-installed.
I'll give a more in depth answer in a couple days.
I mowed for 3 hours today and I am tired.
I 'm trying out Ultimate Ubuntu too. Flashy eye candy distro.

Currently running Fedora 12 on my Laptop (Vista 32bit in Virtualbox for Windows only software)

Fedora 12 on my desktop, no windows at all anymore.

Linux Mint 8 on 83 year old grandfather's machine (He loves the HAM tools and has similar usage requirements to Dan)

Fedora 12 on Sister's MSI Wind

Xenserver 5.5 Hosts with Centos 5.4 guests on production servers

MythBuntu on media PC

OSX 10.4 on The Mac Mini (G4 PowerPC)

Yellow Dog Linux on the PS3

I'm happy, Fedora 13 will be out in about a week and a half, should be quite good, also I've got Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 beta on a machine being tested at the moment, looking promising as well.

Nope, and if I had a woman with a beautiful face, I wouldn't make her wear a paper bag either.

Downgrading makes no sense.

I'm currently using Mint 9 as my main OS and Ubuntu 10.4 as my second choice. I still have XP on another tower, to play my Yahoo Games.
