Ah... Cliff, m'man. I knew you'd show up sooner or later.

I'll take a look at that later when I'm home. I think I tried it already, or something similar but I'll check.

For finding which packages have which use flag you can use equery, it is in gentoolkit (emerge gentoolkit)

Code:
 equery hasuse hal
I'll try to be of some help on your desktop issues, but I have been running a pretty stripped down system for awhile. Moved most everything over to console or keyboard oriented apps.

Interesting.

I remember playing around in sudoers and tried this:
Code:
##to fix shutdown problem? doesn't work this way :/
#%shutdown ALL=(root) NOPASSWD: /usr/libexec/xfsm-shutdown-helper

##Cliff's line, seems to work
thunderrd OPTERON-185=NOPASSWD:/usr/libexec/xfsm-shutdown-helper
I tried the first line some time ago, it didn't work so I commented it out. Maybe the spaces before and after NOPASSWD: I'll have to try that sometime.

Your suggestion seems to work, so I guess I'm good to go. Notice xfsm-shutdown-helper resides in a different location in my install.

Your line should have worked, provided you created the group "shutdown" and added your user to it.
