Fedora 16 and GNOME 3 Fedora 15 good review of Fedora and comparing it to Ubuntu. Ret Hat made some major changes with the help of GNOME 3. No on screen task management, no Desktop, no advanced virtual desktops, No trash, no minimize, no hibernation, no customization...

WOW, looks like they wanna keep just the linux people running this OS. The thing probably wont' even seen your wifi card and have it work out of the box. Oh... and if you have an Nvidia, or ATI video card you have to manually install those drivers as well. Seems like a step back to me. But I do like the new interface.

I'm going to agree because of that specific review... though my needs are the same as most average users. I could probably get used to the interface but I'm curious if its more productive in the end or counter-productive? I just built a new computer and am going to install Linux on it to finally test some games. There are plenty of OpenGL games being released and I want to see how well they run on modern hardware. So I WILL be installing Nividia drivers. So far, I am leaning towards Ubuntu or Mint. Mint has always been more "windows-ish" than other distros, but at the same time I would like to stay up to date with where OS's are going.... Fedora 15 seems to have some innovative ideas. I hope there are some options so we can revert back to old interfaces we have grown to love.

The biggest thing I don't like is that you can't have a 'system tray' for handy little utilities. For example, I like to run a little termp monitor in my bar on Gnome 2, and you can't do that on Gnome 3. |

they didn't supply a "legacy" configuration to allow a taskbar?

No. You CAN go back to Gnome 2 if you desire, however. Also, many of the applets for Gnome 2 don't work under Gnome 3. |

then whats the point of going back to Gnome 2? oh well, I'll "dip my toes in" after its been out for a year or so... I'm sure you have noticed I am always a few releases behind. By the time I use Fedora 16 the 20th release will be out
