Id certainly be willing to try this! I know I'll Google it! ":O}

I've noticed that too with PlayOnLinux games. Steam for example... It automatically installs 1.4.1 instead of using the newest version.
You can go back and select Default but my Steam Virtual Drive didn't like the fonts for my current version.
So I stuck with 1.4.1

I've used that for updating Mint 13. I followed a tutorial to ad another server for updates instead of just the Mint 13 servers.
Interesting...

So what other games are on your list to try?

Got it! Gave it a second shot. I figure I can go back if there's trouble or no gain. IF steam will run it just might recognize my card.

Games, next, hhhmmmm what have you got that's FPS , has to be pretty! ":O}

Try it, but I wonder how to downgrade if it doesn't work?
PlayOnLinux can do it, but how to do it with Wine alone?

Yeah, that's a good one. I actually finished it, not just the plot, but every site on the map.

I had way too much time on my hands then.

Playing with POL, you can select which version of Wine to use. It only shows installed versions though. However, there's a little plus next to the drop down controls that allows you to choose any version of Wine, and POL will download and use it.

Effectively, it lets you play with whatever version of Wine you want so you can go ahead and try different versions.

I never saw the little "plus" button... I'll check it out.
I think its strange that PlayOnLinux automatically installs older versions of Wine for some games. That makes me assume it doesn't work with the newer versions of Wine. I would think they could test the same game with the newer versions too otherwise people are missing out on the new features that may even fix an older game like Crysis.

I installed Battlefield 2 again this morning for my next tutorial. PlayOnLinux automatically installs a really old version of Wine (1.1.2?) but I automatically switched it to my current version and it still works. So PlayOnLinux should probably let it use the current version.... or at least 1.4.1

NO WAY!!!
Is that even possible? That is like saying "I finished cleared every dungeon, cave and town in Oblivion"
Crazy man!
How long did it take?
I think I put 25 hours into the game and decided to move on....
I was having a lot of fun, but there were some other games I was anxious to start playing

I'm almost ashamed to say that it's true. I actually finished every dot on the map. There were probably some items here and there that I missed, but I did finish the sites.

thats crazy... I will try again at another time, but that is a pretty big goal.
Don't be too ashamed. I played almost 200 hours on Oblivion over 8 months. That is roughly an hour a day...

You can install 1,4 or 1.5 from here. If that fails I can try Mint software manager to reinstall Mint 13 System Wine., after that I go to my back ups...":O}

Steam doesn't install wine - It's POL installs it's own wine versions.
