Mint 14, driven to excecle in all things Nvidia

This has been an interesting install,...interesting rather than frustrating as all turned out quite well!

I installed M-14 on a small drive I use to try our different Linux distros. "Test" would be a bigger word than I would be comfortable with, so I like to try them out.

M-14 was one I had pinned a few quite irrational hopes upon, particularly in the whole graphics/wine/PlayOnLinux/winetricks area. You know, where gamers learn to endure and prevail against all odds and ChrisBard.

(Who could resist? Who...could...resist!? ":O}

So when M-14 showed up without the wine for our date, I was abit nervous about how the day and night and another day would go...

Let me tell you my friends it was...tedious...anything that could go wrong leaped to it with gusto!

It was so bad I haven't any idea as what if any part M-14 played in my little deaster...but I got it done.

This is but a small chapter, one of the happier moments when the new and unexpected meet in further refinement with what had been started, but seem adrift and without a real and vital connection.

So what am I rambling on about, "Additional drivers'.

When I first install M-14 on my test drive, Additional drivers, formally found in "Menu" was gone... WHAT A PAIN!!

Then I opened "Software Manger" and searched "Nvidia" and found a entire page of drivers and Nvidia goodies. I found the coveted 310.14 and installed them.

Well and good but hardly a refinement yeah?

So I'm nosing about System update and notice change, I start to smile...

Yes, I found this too in Mint 14.
You can always add the menu back again, if you want.

Since I did an update via internet instead of a fresh install...
How can I remove the old Nvidia drivers and install 310?

I'm pretty sure it's all automatic, it removes the previous driver and replaces it. I've never had any trouble just installing the drivers I wanted and letting Mint take care of the details.":O}

I installed the 304, before I found the 310's and all went well in M-14 64 bit.

I think I can just do an
Code:
apt-get remove nvidia bla bla bla
But I would like Mint to take care of it for me.

I know whats wrong.... I can't download and install the new drivers with Software Sources Additional Drivers because I don't have internet yet.
Funny how we are so dependent on internet for our computers to work.
Once I get the internet figured out, I'll be installing 310 drivers

Yep...Not being able to install wine really put a cap on my day! LOL

I'm up and enjoying 32 bit 14. I don't know what to say about 64 bit, it must some how be me or the roof would be flying off of hell right now...No one could install it, but I can't think what I may have done to cause an endless login cycle. And it does install 32 bit just fine.

I hope so. I really don't want to install all of those games all over again.
I may try a few and follow my tutorial to see if there are any differences.

I have a feeling it will be the same unless PlayOnLinux has any major GUI changes
