Ubuntu Linux 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope - Netbook remix

Download it from AOA's server:
Ubuntu Linux 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope - Netbook remix

Has anyone tried it?

Was thinking of installing this on my Asus Eee PC, which already runs Linux.

I've been putting off getting a net book. Don't get me wrong, I want one... but the Escalade needed tires, oil change... and a flush of the cooling system first. $700 later... it was done.

Maybe in a couple of months.

Credit cards balances are coming down. So maybe by the end of the year I'll have some money.

Still paying the surgery off. (will be for a while)

I have 9.04 installed on my MSi Wind, but not the netbook remix. When I first looked at the remix the GUI annoyed me, as well as the maximise app, which I had issues if I opened more than 1 programme at a time.

9.04 seems very responsive, and faster than 8.10. The only issue is that as the screen is only 1024x600 some apps seem only to cater for 1024 high and therefore are off the screen.
I have compiz running on medium settings, some screenlets, and a docking bar like the mac one at the bottom, no issus. I could even go higher with the effects, and it will do the whole cube rotation, etc.

It has a ralink wireless card, and that was detected on install no issues, and bluetooth connected no issues. The only thing that caused me a few head scratches was when I had an external USB mouse installed on boot, and for some reason the trackpad wasn't detected. Not all the hot keys work (battery extender and disable trackpad, and the external monitor), but there are packages for the eeepc (not sure what for though), where there aren't for the wind, all the other ones including volume and screen brightness work.

I may look into why they don't, but not until I have more hours on my hands, that also includes the way linux seems to handle external monitors, hence me dual booting into xp on occasion.
