![]() well i just put together a barebones "asus M3N" series notebook. i had to buy the harddrive, the memory and the cpu. harddrive is toshiba http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...149-020&depa=0 memory transend: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...208-003&depa=0 cpu pentium m 1.6 ghz http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...111-157&depa=0 i installed everything, then tried powering up....it just stay on for about 3 seconds then shuts off. am i doing something wrong? do i need to make it charge for a few hours first since, it's never been charged before? PS. i have the ac adapter plugged in...when i try powering it on. PS. again, no OS or such, remember it's barebones.

Most laptops will run happily without the battery. That would allow you to see if it's a problem with the machine, or an issue with the battery.
