Symbian Smartphones: 1 in 63 Infected By: Roy Mark Eweek A study by mobile security company SMobile Systems claims smartphones running the Symbian operating system are breeding grounds for spyware, viruses, worms and Trojans. SMobile says most users of the infected Symbian smartphones are unaware of the infections. I am highly suspicious of this one.. ![]() They're only referring to Series 60 platforms (Nokia mostly), when they say Symbian. There are other variants of the Symbian platform (UIQ for example). Quote:
Also, how big is the sample size? Did they buy 63 Symbian phones, and only find one that meets their criteria? If they did this through their users, how happy would you be with your AV company examining what software is installed on your phone and reporting back to them?
