Either not being a customer of EGN makes a heck of a difference, or Cnet is too optimistic. EGN does say that your speed ain't accurate, if'n you h'ain't a customer.

49 kbps according to "EGN," "CGN", or whatever. Can I get a whoo-hoo?

449 kbps according to Cnet. Now, who do I want to believe?

That air New York outfit done crashed Opera. Tsk tsk.

Alot of people say don't believe online benchmarks, and to test yor speeds by downloading from various servers at different times of the day. that's what I normally do.

It all makes me wonder what kind of peering EurekaGGN have!
Running a test on my 500K DSL line gives me between 144Kbit/s and 288Kbit/sec, suggesting there's a bottleneck somewhere. Ok, so it's 15-16 hops away from me.

Not recommended as a speed test unless you're on EurekaGGN and don't care about speeds outside EurekaGGN.
