Nvidia Folding!!

Well I am back at the computer desks again. I dusted off my folding jacket and got back to business.

First up my Main System WeldZilla 3 folding with a Nvidia 260GTX
Fans speed set at 55% and my card temp 46C !! Thatts it!

Sytem 2 250GTS folds close to the 260 GTX running fan at 62% temp is steady at 50C !!

System 3 8800GTX about 22% slower than the 250GTS! fan at 90% temp 76C.

System 4 My son Matt's System Mobo P5K Vanilla e8400 Daily at 4050mhz
on air 2 gigs G.Skill 6400 HZ his 8800 Ultra is running fan at 90% and is is about 18% slower than the 250GTS. His will come online folding at night for now as it gets too hot in his room till we fire the central air up.

These Nvidia cards just shred there way through this!! It is incredible!!

My numbers have flown the last couple days. I just put the 8800GTX online this afternoon.

At around $100 dollars the 250GTS is just an incredible buy for folding.

It really games well too.

OK fellow folders here I come

As ACDC said in that great classic song

FOR THOSE ABOUT TO FOLD, WE SALUTE YOU!!

WZ

Tempted by some of the ebay used bargains on these NV cards, the 8800gt i finally got up and running today and its going at a crazy pace, with 9800gx2s and 285gtx's around $180 second hand, it might be worth the investment.

Clearly I'm going to be forced to pick up a GTX 480 in response to that... But they don't work with GPU2 yet...

When GPU3 comes out, Stanford is still in house beta testing it at the moment, Stanford apparently has quoted 16k-20k PPD on GTX480 hardware stock, while under water it could be a monster.

Hey dsio I would love to put one of those to work!! I must say though as I look at our scores and considering what we have I think we are doing quite well. I plan on trying to get that P-4 going this week. It won't help much but, it will help. I really want to fire it up more for old time's sake than anything else. Hold it just a moment! I just stumbled onto my e6600 sitting on a shelf right above me. I have a psu I have the memory I have the card I have a DVD wrtiter inbound and a couple old spare HDDs I think I could get my 250 back folding this week!! I'll see what I can do!!
I'll be pushing 20K every day!!

You notice since mid April, output for Team 45 has about doubled?

Looking good, but still not even close to what the team was doing late last year. I'm hoping we get there again. April was our lowest production in a year, so it's not a good yardstick; partially because my own points dropped from 25k ppd to almost nil while I was away on vacation, and partially because we lost a few folders in the last few months.

I've been a bit involved with a friend's business venture lately and haven't been keeping on top of my folding as much as I should, but that should change shortly. I need to fight off Ron at least to the end of the year. After that, his overtake may be fait accompli unless I make a move to upgrade sumtin'...

However we do it, let's kick some azz. 3,000,000 points per month is the target

GPU3 gives about a 30% PPD drop over GPU2 on everything except GTX400 series cards (fermi)

Current GTX 480 performance is 15-16k standard with a heavily overclocked card topping out at over 25k ppd.

I will just wait till i upgrade whenever that will be?? I am so pleased with what I have now. I might just watch for another good deal on Ebay and buy yet another 285GTX and add it to the wife's system and call it good.
I did put in an offer today on a P5NE-sli board. That would allow me to bring my E6600 back to life as well as my 250GTS. Then I would shut off my laptop and my old P4

I get the impression they just haven't benchmarked GPU3 correctly yet, it sounds like they're working the bugs out now, and will tune that later. Apparently they're expecting increased performance from GPU3 over GPU2 even on older cards.
