How can I check or know if my hardware will work with linux. Anyone know of any music recording software under this OS?

You can do worse than to try linux-drivers

There's probably plenty of recording software, depending on what you actually want - you might need to be a bit more specific.

your config looks fine. However it can be quite difficult to get raid working on linux and I recommend you disable it if you want to run Linux.

I may set up another box to run linux. I did find a little info concerning raid under linux. It seems a few were able to get it running and it may be beyond my skills.
A catalog company sometimes sells inexpensive systems that run on linux. I may look into that.
