A few dark clouds in the Vista!

Symantec picks away at Vista's core
By Joris Evers

In a third and final report on Windows Vista, Symantec examined the security of the operating system core and found some vulnerabilities.

Vista includes several barriers designed to prevent malicious code from gaining access to the operating system core or kernel. These enhancements are "quite substantial" and result in a "dramatic reduction" of the overall attack surface of the operating system, Symantec said in a report published Tuesday.

Gotta love the way they say "Most secure version of windows to date"

Sort of like saying "Most reliable Lada ever made"

Or "Best performing SiS video card in history"

As far as dark clouds go, its more like the storms of Jupiter.

Just the marketeers clever way of working "most secure" in to a phrase, without it really meaning a great deal. Actually, it's not clever at all. Young children can do it.

I'd like to know exactly how MS measured the security of Vista vs. XP. Perhaps, it is just secure because it's just not installed on many PCs, yet?

Hey! I can build a HIGHLY secure Windows 95 box!

Just stick it in a locked vault with power and no other cabling of any kind.

There you go! A secure and practically invulnerable Windows machine!

I like the way you said practically invulnerable. But doing this still wont stop it from crashing.
