New security patches from MS.

Please see the article in The Register USA( www.theregus.com .)

I don't know if MS packed any backdoor or SpyWare goodness into these patches. There's a 'six in one' for IE, and another for XP. And more if you're running Office 2K or XP. And more if you're using the 'big iron' versions of Server this, and Server that.

www.theregus.com/content/55/26092.html .

For more pointers to MS's patches for the panoply of Office and Server problems, this article in TheInquirer.net makes it less confusing. It also points you to the '6 in1' IE patch, btw.

Please see: www.theinquirer.net/?article=5090 .

I DL'd the patch for IE and the one for XP. I'm waiting to install them. I'd like to see no bad news about them from watchdog groups that help sort the crud from the even cruddier, first.

2 more updates

Here's two more security fixes that prevent DOS attacks on Win2K and XP Pro:

Win2K Security Fix for Denial of Service Attacks in SMB

WinXP Pro DOS fix : for those with-OUT SP1

As always...be aware of the file you are downloading.
I'm going to try them, I'll report back.

UPDATE: Just installed both, they both went in nicely. Don't even have to reboot afterwards.

The new IE6 patch works flawless for me - using it for a full day now!

I don't think they did. I installed a 'test sample' today and it appears to be fine after a hefty update.

Not that I don't trust MS, cough, but has anyone seen any "watch out! The latest security update sends your credit card info to The Bill!!" type of warnings about these recent patches? So far I haven't, but what do I know?

So far, Ad Aware and Spybot Search and Destroy(available in AOA Files) find nothing of interest after installing the latest patches for XP Pro from MS. Yay!

SP1 for XP will be available from MS on September 9th, according to their latest statement on the XP Updates page. Just FYI.
