Let's liven this section up a bit......

So anyone got any current projects their working they might want to discuss(doesn't matter what language even web)? Iv'e been so busy with my own little projects that i haven't stopped to take a look at others and it might be interesting to see what some of the people on this forum can do!

Btw if anyone needs help with Visual Basic or Delphi might just be able to oh and who thinks a sticky in this section providing links to programming resources would be a good idea? i know quite a few good sites for help and information on a few languages and even basic web(html, css, javascript, dhtml etc).

http://www.w3schools.com/ A great place to learn loads of languages (ofcourse not all at once). I learnt HTML there.

I am currently making a Body Mass Index calculator in VB, i was surprised how easy basic VB was.

Sure there's plenty for me to do it on still though today im taking the day off and going for a skate in the city. I would eventually release source(mainly to benefit those using the same socket components i do as they are not documented) but considering how messy it all looks atm i think they would be better off without........

Suppose i'll get round to making some example projects eventually. Body Mass calculator? never thought of making something like that lol i think i'll take complex string manipulation instead

Yeah pretty much the same here, im halfway through an mp3 player at the moment(play's wav and wma files too).

I needed a scaled down mp3 player that was 1.Free, 2.Worked Properly, 3.Had playlist support. So im making my own

That is correct but nearly everyone iv'e found was poorly made in visual basic, didn't work properly, was overbloated or didn't completely function(missing save playlist etc).

The most recent one i got that claimed to be scaled down uses 7 1/2mb ram as soon as it loads. Mine so far only uses 2312 odd kilobytes which is 2.3mb ram.

So far it can play/pause/stop/rewind/fast forward/change volume/add to list/remove from list/load a single file for playing/double click in list to play particular file/export and import playlists. It also automatically changes to the next song in the list if any otherwise it repeats back to the first in the list.

Did pretty much all of this plus misc other gui stuff today

I'm curios mate, why would you need a scaled down player? I see you have a pretty decent rig

Aww just for when im playing games i like to have as much ram as possible reserved for it and cpu cycles also. At the very most it uses 2% at the moment but usually 0% or sometimes 1%.

EDIT: Once it's finished im going to polish up the code a bit, remove save/open dialog's and code them in pure Win32 API save on more ram and cpu cycles heh heh. Probably need to fix up some var's too should be using byte and smallint's instead of integer's.

I never even noticed that(still not exactly sure what the feature does). I normally use Media Player Classic of VLC for watching movies or ocassionaly listening to music(well not music anymore i got something for that now that i made ).

Right click on the taskbar/Toolbars/Windows Media Player -> click it.
After you start Win Media Player and you minimize it it will not go to the taskbar as a minimized window but in the form you see there.
You could also code that in assembly language...small is beautifull...
