Perl

I need to learn it basically. No specific purpose in mind, just trying to broaden my programming skills so I appeal more to employers.

Does anyone here know it and if so what would be a good approach to start learning it? Any good books? Any good ideas for programs I could try to write?

They reckon it's good. You could always do what I do - nip off to your local waterstone's to thumb through a copy and see whether you like it, then amazon a vanilla copy later

I know all about the camel and the llama books Just wondered if there was a slightly cheaper alternative.

And I also know of Waterstones. Very very comfy armchairs and there's a very very cute guy that works in the computer section of the Canterbury branch. hehehe

Hmm, why didn't I see this? I know a fair amount of perl, nothing huge, still scratching the surface compared to some people but I can make reasonable attempts at things, so ask me stuff when yer on ICQ if you want
