A few Questions

I have some questions maybe someone can help?

I just setup F@H and EMIII on my second machine for team 45. I downloaded the basic F@H console(the nofrills text console), ways going to use that with EMIII but the console leaves this ugly command window open any way to close it and still have F@H run in the background?

I know how to use F@H(full graphics version)& EMIII(thanks inpart to MookyDooky), but I would like to ru the other, or doesn't it matter?

Also what kind of Time per Frame rate should I expect for the rig in my sig? Currently I am folding Protein 167 at a rate of 00:01:26

Ronin,

What OS are you running? If you're running Win2K or WinXP, you can set the console as a "Scheduled Task." It will then run in the background without displaying the window or anything on the taskbar. For it to work though, you have to use a password to login.

You can't close the "ugly" window, but you can make EM3 hide it if you like...

As for running which version, it doesn't matter. They both perform within something like .5%. I'm afraid I don't have any 167s right now so I can't really answer that at the moment.

Yes you CAN hide it. I have it hidden on some of my machines.

I am running XP.

Is there a big difference between the console version and the full interface, do they run differently or are resources waste trying to produce those graphics I never look at? If not I will leave the interface, don't mind the icon in the tray, just hate to wast any processor speed...

If you open the graphical version so that you see the graphics all the time, then it's a waste. If you leave it so you don't see any graphics, just the tray icon, then it's performance is almost equal to that of the console. Like I said, within .5%.

Here's a link to detailed instructions on how to set up the console in WinXP so it doesn't show.

...with the console version coming out as the winner. But still, not by much.

I will give them both a try, run a little comparison testing, not that it really matters...

This machine isn't on 24/7 like my other one, but it should still be folding 16-20 hours a day.
