TR,
my Phenom rig is working at 16000+ PPD and AMD FX 4300 quad is doing between 5 and 6 thousand PPD.
why the large difference? I was happy with 6000.

No idea. IDK much about AMD anymore, haven't used one in some years now.

Are you GPU folding on those machines as well? That could account for a huge difference.

Simple PPD

Strait SMP on the Phenom and I just looked and ppd was 18,636.
My machine I'm running through Chrome and 7000+ PPD. I wanted to keep it simple. but doesn't look like I'ii get tha lucky.

Son of a gum, 18000 ppd? You ARE the man, PPM! I'm sure that folders everywhere are mighty proud of you. Great stats, very well done!

I don't know about the average ppd for those cpus. I know my QX9560 running SMP does between 5 and 12000 ppd, and the other box, when I run it with a Q6600 and a 970GTX runs about 230,000-240,000 ppd.

When I run both machines, I get somewhere between 250,000 and 300,000 ppd, but most of that is the GPU folding. These older 4 core/4 thread units like yours and mine are going to the dogs; the new CPUs with 4, 6 or 8 cores/8, 12 or 16 threads just kill them.

This year, I'm planning on building a Z370 box with an 8700k which will be 6C/12/T, and that will be a folding monster, but I won't be running it much because of the cost of power.

The Work Units vary in their yield, as well, so some of your inconsistency could be there.

Out of curiosity, I tried a couple of ways of running F@H on the dedicated rig. (Phenom ll x4 965 Black) Folding thru chrome is 4000PPD.
Strait SMP 14 to 16 thousand PPD.
I have yet to try GPU-I can't find the program. Most of the links are 404 now. Anybody know where I can get it?

Absolutely, he's a wonderful chap who also knows his way around computing as well as computering. (Not sure what computering means, but it sounds like it's a bit different and beyond computing.)
