Quantum computer to be unleashed Tuesday

Image D-Wave Systems claim to be all set to fire-up the world's first commercial quantum computer next week.   If this beast really does work, it will represent a major leap in computational power.  Some scientists are skeptical, they were not expecting to see something like this for another 20 years or so.

Quantum computers differ from the computers we have in our homes and offices, they measure data using qubits rather than bits.  Quantum computing allows for considerable advances in cryptography and various intensive computational problem solving applications.
